Call for Tutorials

We invite proposals for half- or full-day tutorials to be given at the fifth International Conference on Networked Sensing Systems (INSS 2008) held in Kanazawa, Japan.

Tutorials are intended to provide in-depth learning experiences on a specific topic of interest to the participants. Topics should be highly relevant to the community and should be taught by experts in the field.

Proposal Content

We solicit tutorials in all areas related to networked sensing systems. In particular, we would like to encourage proposals for tutorials that offer a solid introduction for researchers new to the field of networked sensing systems. We welcome proposals from multiple organizers, especially combining both industry and academia experts. Tutorial speakers are expected to have a strong and proven publishing record relating to their proposed tutorial topic. Prior tutorial experience is benefical. All proposals should be submitted by electronic mail to the tutorial chair Hideyuki Kawashima (see email below) in plain text or pdf format. The recommended length of the tutorial proposal is 2-3 pages, and should include:

  • title of tutorial
  • duration (full- or half-day)
  • speaker(s) contact information (full name, affiliation, email, web)
  • speaker(s) profile (demonstrating qualifications to give this tutorial, i.e., showing both technical proficiency as well as teaching/presentation experience)
  • abstract (concise description of contents, goals, max 150 words)
  • outline (i.e., summary of material to be covered)
  • expected audience (who should participate, how will they benefit?)
  • level (introductory or advanced) and required experience for participants
  • tutorial history (has this been given before? where? how many participants?)
  • equipment (what material do you need, what do participants need to bring?)
